One year ago …

One year ago, on June 25, we finalized our adoption of BE and BC. It was a Friday, and J and I took the day off work so that we could go to court. Grandma G came with us, and we spent about five minutes in the judge’s office before we signed the paper work. I couldn’t believe how quickly it went given all of the time that it took to get to that point. We were done with court by 10, and we all went to the beach. We later went to my in-laws and didn’t get home until midnight. Of course, the kids fell asleep in the car.

I’ve been talking to the kids about it this week, reminding them of what happened and why it mattered. Tomorrow, we’re going to celebrate “our anniversary” by spending the day at the beach again and having friends over for dinner. I’ll have an update and photos later this week.
