When I was on LinkedIn a few weeks ago, I stumbled across this site called The Center for Digital Storytelling. The Center says its mission is to “surface authentic voices around the world through group process and participatory media creation. Our programs support people in sharing and bearing witness to stories that lead to learning, action, and positive change.”
I was immediately interested, especially because its home page featured video stories about adoption in honor of National Adoption Month. I watched all four, each capturing a different perspective on adoption. They’re all incredibly moving, and I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch them too. Then, comment and let me know what you think!
Nowhere Anyhow: A waitress, an adopted daughter, a coffee shop in winter, and her father.
Damon: A couple, a boy, and Nemo.
Reunion: A woman, two empty chairs, and the people who will fill them.
Names: A story about the names you’re given, the ones you choose, and the ones you find.
